The Internet is radically reshaping communications, and bumping up against traditional communications regulation. Kamlet Reichert attorneys are thought leaders in the regulatory arena, with a profound understanding of the changing Internet environment to expertly guide clients through the maze of emerging issues and provide strategic advice. The former chairman of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, the former Deputy Chief of the Federal Communications Commission Media Bureau and a former Associate General Counsel for Qwest Communications lead the communications group.
We have represented information technology companies, wireline and cable companies, broadcasters, and wireless high-speed Internet technology companies. Kamlet Reichert attorneys have worked for and represented clients before the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, state utility commissions and federal and state courts. In addition, we have represented clients before the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, the U.S. Department of Justice, and U.S. Department of State. We have testified before Congress on regulatory issues affecting broadband, voice-over Internet Protocol, cable set-top boxes, video competition, consumer protection, telecommunications competition and mergers. We have lobbied Congress, numerous state legislatures, and county and municipal authorities on controversial communications issues. We monitor legislative and regulatory developments and manage service license petitions and applications for clients ranging from telecommunications service providers to digital media companies.
Cable
Our attorneys have worked extensively on the federal regulatory framework for cable broadband, and represented cable companies in transactions ranging from sales and acquisitions to joint ventures and investments. For those transactions, we work closely with our colleagues in our Private Equity and Venture Capital, and Strategic Alliances and Joint Ventures practice areas. In addition, we have served as counsel to communications companies in connection with initial public offerings, refinancings and stock issuance transactions.
Wireless
We represent major national and regional commercial wireless service providers in matters of regulation, policy and corporate strategy, including FCC licensing and technical rules, intercarrier interconnection and federal mandates. We advise on and represent clients delivering service using Internet Protocol applications.
Wireline
We represent wireline service providers before federal and state agencies and testify before Congress on issues involving domestic and international communications law, regulation and policy. We also have stewarded the process of a regional Bell operating company re-entering the long distance market. Kamlet Reichert attorneys negotiate interconnection agreements, cost of service, network investment regulations, federal statutory mandates, local number portability, license authorizations and universal service policy. In addition, we represent wireline clients in a range of litigation matters from telephone service rates to compensation disputes.

Our experience in broadcasting includes regulatory compliance, transactions, intellectual property, real estate, antitrust issues, broadcast spectrum-usage rights and FCC policy.
